WEST VANCOUVER

The southern portion of the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project begins in West Vancouver. Work in the West Vancouver section includes the Eagleridge Interchange which connects the newly constructed section of highway from Eagleridge to join with the highway 4.6 km north, at the North Junction. This new section connects with the Ansell Place to Lions Bay section providing 12 km of improved highway. From West Vancouver through Lions Bay, the improved highway will consist of 4-lane sections with continuous median barrier.
WHAT WE’RE IMPROVING
The link below provides access to the final phase of consultation. The detailed design consultation covered specific treatments related to the final design improvements, including traffic calming and noise reduction features, lighting and other aesthetic treatments. This phase of consultation included gathering community feedback and input regarding community gateway signage, the cycling path, and landscaping plans.

FEATURES
Eagleridge Interchange

The Eagleridge Interchange in West Vancouver separates Sea-to-Sky traffic from Horseshoe Bay Village and the BC Ferries Terminal.
North Junction

The North Junction is where the newly-constructed highway from Eagleridge Drive in the south, joins the re-built old highway north of Horseshoe Bay. Improvements at this location include a new ‘flyover’, allowing northbound traffic from Horseshoe Bay Village to proceed north and connect with the improved highway.
The link below shows how the elements of construction tie the North Junction together when complete.

COMPLETED WORK

Views of the newly-constructed section between West Vancouver’s Eagleridge Interchange on the south and the North Junction to the north. This four-lane divided highway reduces congestion and improves reliability on a highly-travelled, multi-destination section of the route. It safely separates traffic heading to Sea-to-Sky country, BC Ferries, Horseshoe Bay Village or Eagleridge Drive. As well, the new section moves up to 13,000 vehicles per day away from Eagleridge community and school.
The segment has improved sightlines, widened paved shoulders to accommodate cyclists and emergency pull-offs. Centre median barriers prevent head-on collisions. Additional safety improvements include the use of highly reflective pavement markings, representing the most advanced technology and highest safety standards available in highway markings. Rumblestrips warn drivers they are out of their lane, and roadside reflectors improve visibility.

Improvements through Lions Bay.
