FURRY CREEK

Furry Creek Overhead

The 5.3 km section from Furry Creek to Minaty Bay (south of Brittania Beach) opened in the fall of 2006. Improvements through Furry Creek include a new bridge over Furry and Middle creeks to provide a four lane divided highway. Pedestrian safety and connectivity is enhanced with an underpass near the southern entrance to the community.

WHAT WE’RE IMPROVING

The Furry Creek section of the Sea-to-Sky Highway includes a community within a section of rural highway.  At the southern gateway sign the highway transitions from three lanes to a four lane divided highway through the north end of the community.  Improvements include 1.5m shoulders on both sides of the highway and highly reflective pavement markings.

The new bridge over Furry and Middle Creeks not only doubled the highway capacity but resulted in a split-grade design that created an opportunity for plantings on the centreline slopes and retaining walls.

Landscaped pullouts for bus stops near the southern entrance to the community and lighting in the area enhance the sense of arrival to the community.
