Northern Section Photo Gallery – Spring 2007

Seasonal temperatures now allow crews to resume work at the Daisy Lake Bridge. This new two-lane, structure is one of 43 new or improved bridges on the Sea-to-Sky Improvement Project.  Scheduled for completion in late summer 2007, the new bridge will carry two lanes northbound. The existing structure will be modified to carry one lane south. A new concrete median barrier will separate traffic and lanes.

A lane shift onto new lanes at Daisy Lake will allow rebuilding of the west side of the highway and maintain traffic flow through construction. Note how the highway has been lowered to provide a more level driving surface.

First picture shows clearing for straightened highway just south of Whistler’s Function Junction. This new section will eliminate problem curves shown in the second picture by passing over the railway tracks and Millar Creek. The final photo shows the completed three lane section north of the Cheakamus Canyon.
